Spiezle’s Design for St. Lucie Public Schools’ Prototype Campus Published in School Construction News
An article published in School Construction News details Spiezle Architectural Group’s design of the new Western Grove K-8 School for St. Lucie Public Schools. Working with construction management firm Wharton-Smith, Spiezle’s plan entails six different buildings, including a two-story administration building, two-story academic buildings, and a gymnasium. Each floor of the academic building will offer classroom “pods” surrounded by interior extended learning areas.
“Spiezle’s design for Western Grove K-8 builds on the extensive history shared between us and the school district, as we continue to evolve and modernize our prototypes, while creating a model that is easily replicable at other future school sites throughout the district,” said Anthony Donadio, Principal at Spiezle. In addition to the classrooms, the common core facility will also offer laboratories and specially designed areas for science demonstrations. A 33,569-square-foot auditorium will double as a cafeteria and auditorium, while also serving as an Enhanced Hurricane Protection Area (EHPA) during hurricane season. “This new school will provide students in St. Lucie with a safe, clean, and forward-thinking facility that will suit their needs for many years to come,” said Steven G. Siegel, Principal at Spiezle Architectural Group.
Western Grove K-8 School will serve 2,000 students when it opens in August 2026.
